Iria - Zeiram the Animation is a six-episode original video animation produced by Ashi Productions and directed by Tetsurō Amino. It was released from June 23 to November 21 in 1994. The series serves as a prequel to the original live-action film duology Zeiram, taking place several years earlier when the female bounty hunter Iria is but a rookie and detailing her first encounters with the titular villain, though several contradictions do arise between mediums.
It was originally released and dubbed in English by Central Park Media on VHS in 1996 with later DVD releases being handled by Image Entertainment and Media Blasters in 2000 and 2004 respectively. Media Blasters provided a newly remastered film in the latter year with Discotek Media following suit in 2016.
