Hideaki Anno Portrait

Hideaki Anno (庵野 秀明, Anno Hideaki, born May 22, 1960 in Ube, Yamaguchi, Japan) is a Japanese animator, filmmaker, director, and actor. His directorial works include the likes of the Evangelion franchise, Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water, His and Her Circumstances, Gunbuster, and Re: Cutie Honey. Anno has done key animation direction for Macross Plus, Giant Robo: The Day the Earth Stood Still, and the original FLCL as well as providing minor voice work for the shows he has had input in. His best known roles are likely FLCL's Nyan-Nyan, the Nandaba family cat, and that of Jiro Horikoshi from Hayao Miyazaki's The Wind Rises.
