From Up on Poppy Hill (コクリコ坂から) is a 2011 Japanese animated drama film. Created by Studio Ghibli, it is directed by Gorō Miyazaki with the screenplay by Hayao Miyazaki and Keiko Niwa and character design by Katsuya Kondō.
The film is based on the serialised Japanese comic of the same name drawn by Chizuru Takahashi and written by Tetsurō Sayama. It was released by Toho in Japan on July 16, 2011, becoming the highest-grossing Japanese film of the year, and was released by GKIDS in the United States in March 2013.
